A Four Lakes Feature on Performance, Consistency, and Proven Breeding Quality

In pigeon racing, results remain the clearest measure of quality.

Over the past season, Jimmy Hamilton of New Ross has put together a body of performances that reflect a loft operating at a consistently high level. Across a wide range of race points, his pigeons have featured regularly at the front of competition, often in numbers that highlight the overall strength of the team.

Alongside his race results, Jimmy has also built a strong reputation through pigeons from his loft producing winners for other fanciers at multiple levels of the sport — something that carries real weight.

This was not based on one standout result.

It was built over the course of the season, through steady preparation, careful management, and a group of pigeons capable of performing week after week.

A Season Built on Consistency

Looking through Jimmy’s results, the pattern is clear.

From Castletown to Valentia, through the Skibbereen races, and into the later stages of the season, his pigeons returned strong performances across multiple weeks.

Some of the standout results included 15th and 16th Open from Castletown on 26th April, followed by an exceptional performance on 3rd May at Castletown, where Jimmy took 1st Section and 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 10th, 12th and 13th Open.

On 10th May from Valentia, he again won 1st Section, along with 7th, 14th, 16th and 20th Open, and on 31st May at Castletown, he secured 1st Section with 10th, 15th, 16th and 20th Open.

His strength became even more evident in June. At the Skibbereen Derby on 8th June, Jimmy won 1st Section and took 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 13th, 14th and 16th Open. Just one week later, on 15th June from Skibbereen, he again won 1st Section and filled 1st through 11th Open. On 21st June from Skibbereen, he added another outstanding result with 2nd Section and 2nd through 14th Open, as well as 20th Open.

The later part of the season brought more of the same. On 2nd August at Castletown, Jimmy won 1st Section and remarkably filled 1st through 20th Open. He repeated that feat again at the Owenahincha Derby on 9th August, where he again won 1st Section and filled 1st through 20th Open.

At Pilmore Beach on 23rd August, he won 1st Section and placed 1st through 12th Open, along with 15th, 16th and 17th Open. On 29th August at Castletown, he again topped the section with 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 8th and 20th Open, and on 5th September at Castletown, he completed another exceptional result with 1st Section and 1st through 11th Open, as well as 14th, 15th, 19th and 20th Open.

Taken together, these results reflect a loft that is performing with reliability across the full season.

Depth Across the Team

One of the most notable aspects of Jimmy’s results is not just the top positions, but the number of birds consistently appearing in the results.

That kind of depth is significant.

It reflects a well-balanced team, consistent preparation, and a clear understanding of how to maintain performance across multiple races.

In pigeon racing, sustained results across a team often say more than a single standout performance. It shows that the loft is built on strong foundations.

Contribution to the Sport

Jimmy is also closely involved with the Leinster Premier Championship Club, a group formed to provide a competitive and supportive environment for pigeon fanciers.

The club focuses on fair racing, accessibility, and maintaining a strong community within the sport.

Through organisation, prize support, and continued effort, it has created an environment that many fanciers are proud to be part of.

That kind of contribution plays an important role in keeping the sport active and moving forward.

Proven Mark Janssens Bloodlines

A particularly important part of Jimmy Hamilton’s loft is the influence of the Mark Janssens bloodlines.

What makes this especially significant is that these pigeons have already proven themselves beyond Jimmy’s own loft.

Pigeons from Jimmy Hamilton’s loft, based on these Mark Janssens bloodlines, have gone on to produce winners for other fanciers at club level, federation level, national level, and in one loft races.

They have done so across a wide range of racing, from approximately 100km through to 550km, including 1st prize winners from France.

That level of performance, across different lofts and different conditions, is one of the clearest signs of genuine breeding quality.

It shows that the strength of these pigeons is not limited to one loft, but can be reproduced — which is what serious fanciers value most.

Four Lakes Breeding Programme

This season, Jimmy joins the Four Lakes breeding programme, bringing both his racing experience and the strength of his existing bloodlines into the project.

For Four Lakes, this is an important step.

The focus is on working with fanciers who have demonstrated consistent performance and who understand the importance of building with quality.

Jimmy’s results, combined with the proven influence of the Mark Janssens pigeons in his loft, align closely with that approach.

It provides a strong foundation for developing pigeons with both performance and breeding value.

Looking Ahead

Seasons like this are built over time.

They reflect attention to detail, steady work, and a clear understanding of the sport.

Jimmy Hamilton’s performances over the past year demonstrate that clearly.

With his continued involvement in racing, and his role within the Four Lakes breeding programme, the next stage will be one to follow with interest — particularly given the proven strength already present within his loft.

Final Thought

In pigeon racing, consistency and proven results carry real weight.

Jimmy Hamilton has shown both in the race basket, and through the continued performance of pigeons bred from his loft.

That is what makes his involvement in Four Lakes significant — and why this is a story worth following.
